About Us

Hello everyone. My name is Peter Bell and I have been involved in coaching Touch Football at all levels for over 30 years. I have a long teaching background (30 years PE) and helped introduce this sport into Queensland schools. As an elite coach I have been successful winning four World Cups as a coach, but I have found out the hard way this doesn’t necessarily translate to success as a coach when working with younger students who are new to the game.

What We're All About

The Priority 10 project (2019) is an initiative of the Queensland Touch Football High Performance Program whereby a complete review of coaching development & direction took place. The project is authored by Peter Bell and has been updated from the previous priority 6 (2016) introductory phase, to include 4 more concepts.

The project further reinforces the priority or the

‘non-negotiable’ elements in Coaching Junior Touch which are recommended for coaches and teachers of juniors and or novice Touch players.

Learn Something Every Day

I wish to share with you some of the ideas, experiences and even pitfalls 30 years of coaching have provided me. The Priority 10 framework is by no means all you will need. However, critically, it will give you the head start you need to enjoy long term success when coaching young Touch players. I hope you will give it a go – Good luck with it.

Who Are We

"It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows."

Peter was a National Coach and has been responsible for the development of Touch Football within Australian schools. He was a founding member of both the Queensland Secondary Schools and Australian Secondary Schools Touch Associations. He is a life member of both.

Peter Bell has been a Physical Education Teacher for over 30 years and during that time was involved in setting up and managing Touch Football Excellence Programs and Touch Academies in a number of Queensland schools.  His experience and expertise have been invaluable in the development of the Coaching Framework which now exists.

As the Touch Football Australia (TFA) Coach Education Consultant and author of much of the coaching materials, his depth of knowledge of current coaching practices and game trends is second to none.  Peter has worked in the High Performance area for a number of years and values the contributions of some of the sports leading coaches during that time, including former Australia Men’s Open Coach Tony Trad.  Much of Priority 10 has come about through those experiences and collaborations.
